General Service Medal Malaya
This medal was instituted in 1923. It was given for service in campaigns other than those in India and Africa. It was always awarded with a bar, additional campaigns being recognised with the appropriate bar. The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) qualified for a number of General Service Medal bars; ‘Kurdistan’ in 1923, ‘Palestine’ in 1936, and ‘Malaya’ in the early 1950s.
